Jazz Collage with ‘Chaos in the CBD & Friends’

The young house-duo making waves throughout the U.K., Ben and Louise Helliker-Hales, have recently dropped a single with two vocal tracks and one instrumental. The brothers made headlines by the end of 2012 with their Midnight in Peckham EP in the U.K.’s regal house label, Rhythm Section.

Released during such a time of disorder, the brothers come through again with sweet, melting melodies to soothe the tension on the block. The U.K. has a strong contemporary jazz scene pulsating through its landscape, and Chaos in the CDB made the bold move to involve a few keynote artists. U.K.’s impeccable keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones brushes the track “It’s up to Me” with his titillating chords, as K-LaDawn softly adds hue to the track with her soulful vocals.

In the track “Emotional Intelligence,” Nathan Haines’ saxophone slowly dances around the swaying chords and thumping drums, making it a nocturnal, samba-like composition.

With their tour recently being canceled due to the pandemic, rest assured that the Hales brothers are most likely crafting some more delicacies in the comfort of their homes as the world continues to rage outside.
